RI POLICY ON INTERNET AND ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS

Click on the link below for the most up to date Rotary International policy information:

There is a section in the Rotary Code of Policies (RCP):
Guidelines for Rotary Club, District, and other Rotary Entity Electronic Publications
RCP 52.020.1, which will assist. It can be accessed from RI's support page above. It has guides on domain naming amongst other things.

The full Manual of Procedure (MoP) and Rotary Code of Policies (RCP) are available electronically from the RI site's Download section, see also the link above or our Downloads Page .

Though the original policy as an entity is superseded, there is one section that is just common sense and good manners, as well as being in the spirit of privacy laws. It is about asking the individual before putting a Rotarian's personal information on a Rotary web site, you should still consider it. The essence of it is still in the RI Guidelines as above. The original wording was quite to the point:

D. Membership Lists:
A WWW or other electronic site of a Rotary district, club, other recognized Rotary entity, or individual Rotarian shall not contain the addresses (mailing or electronic mail) or telephone numbers of any individual Rotarians without the specific, written consent of the individual Rotarian. A WWW or other electronic site of a Rotary district, club, other recognized Rotary entity or individual Rotarian shall not use the Official Directory or any part thereof in its WWW or other electronic site.

A note on the use of Rotarian personal information in District and Club Directory listings can be found on our Personal Information Privacy page.
