Rotary is a Global Network of Community
Volunteers, an organisation of business and
professional leaders worldwide, enjoying fellowship while
providing community service, encouraging high ethical
standards in all vocations, and building goodwill and
peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million male and
female Rotarians are members of some 32,000 Rotary Clubs
in over 200 countries.

Paul Harris (Rotary's
founder), called three friends to a meeting at one's
Chicago office in 1905. He envisaged a club that would
kindle fellowship among members of the business community.
That became recognised as the first Rotary meeting in history. Rotary
developed community service in addition to fellowship as
its driving purpose, and reflected in the International
work of the Rotary Foundation
and related international Programs like Polio Plus,

Programs like the Australian Rotary Health Research
Fund (ARHRF),
or Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS),
and the wide range of Rotary Projects.

Object of Rotary is to
encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of

Rotary District 9750 ( rotaryd9750.org.au )
Rotary clubs are
organised into districts headed by a District
Governor, to assist the autonomous Rotary Clubs
there. There are almost two dozen districts in Australia,
and three cover the greater Sydney area,
capital of the state of New South Wales. District 9750
incorporates the Sydney CBD, eastern suburbs, inner west and southern
metropolitan area, southwest to Camden and
Picton in the Macarthur region, and
south through Wollongong to Kiama in the Illawarra
region. It comprises over 50 clubs and near 2,000
