Rotary International - Regular Event Calendar Dates

The following regular events are provided for in the RI calendar, with the definitions as follows.

World Interact Week
Mon-Sun which includes 5 Nov.
Celebrates the chartering of the first club at Melbourne, Florida, USA, in 1962.

- curious note: in early editions of the Interact Handbook WIW was the week of 28 Oct, which was the date in 1962 that Interact was officially inaurgurated as a program by RI. It was later changed to the date of the first club's charter.

World Inner Wheel Day
10 Jan (fixed day).
Celebrates the first meeting using the name Inner Wheel, at Manchester, England, in 1924.

Founder's Day
27 Jan (fixed day).
To remember the passing of RI founder Paul Harris in 1947.

- not listed as a regular official RI event, but celebrated as a rememberance in many places, especially on the major anniversaries.

Rotary's Anniversary
23 Feb (fixed day).
Celebrates the first Rotary meeting at Chicago in 1905.

World Rotaract Week
Mon-Sun which includes 13 March.
Celebrates the chartering of the first club at North Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, in 1968.

Sutherland Shire Rotary Chapel Night at The Sutherland Hospital
Either the Mon or Wed evening before Easter.
Joint meeting celebrates the project by the Shire Rotary Clubs to construct the Hospital Chapel in 1976-77.
